Right Leg Splits, Still Working on it
About Me:
I'm not too flexible compared with the gimnastic world, but I've ALWAYS dreamt on signing up for rhythmic gymnasticts, but I've always thought I was too old to sign up...
On the bright side, I'm usually a lot more flexible than my friends... which is sad because I can't work on it.

Hey,

How is your stretching going? Have you achieved any poses or stretches in the meantime, or do you also find that there are these stretches (no pun intended) where you get no stretching done? I was sick for about a month, not one thing, but a few things were wrong every week... So that put me back a bit, but i am starting to get back into a routine again...

do they have a yoga class at your gym? It seems that these days every gym has a yoga class, and some even have an advanced class thrown in. Whats also nice about a gym presenting a yoga class, is that it ties in with a physical fitness element, so its not all meditation and chanting and drumming like they have at some yoga places... I have seriously thought about joining a class, but i still haven't gotten that for to sign up, but then again, i haven't really found a place that i like....

How often do you stretch these days? And for how long do you stretch?

its quite sad how many of those children don't even realize how flexible they are, or how they don't appreciate how flexible they are... I believe that everyone should get the opportunity to experience flexibility, or do something flexible... But thats just my opinion... Do you see flexibility often? i rarely get the chance to see flexibility

The funny thing about rhythmic gymnasts, is that they are all flexible!! And you think that just the professional or the top rg gymnasts in the world are flexible, but they all are flexible! The top one just do crazy backbends too. Oversplits on a chair sounds really flexible, and i know, its probably not those oversplits on the chair where your legs are so far away from the ground...

So what stretches are you working on at the moment?

Hello Carmen!

How is your stretching going? So far so good, and i seem to be making some improvement, although i wish it would be more consistent. I have these good days where i feel like i am improving, and the next day i try again, i seem to have lost all the improvement, and sometimes it feels like i have even lost flexibility... But i always seem to bounce back after a day or two of taking a break from stretching...

Have you thought of turning your right frontsplits into an oversplit, by raising your foot on a book or a block?

I also have problems sticking with a schedule or a routine, and i also have problems sitting still for prolonged periods of time, so when they say you should hold a stretch for 2 minutes, i tend to battle with those. Also when someone asks, 'whats the longest you've hold that stretch for?', its not very long, because i seldomly read in a stretch or position... or watch tv, although i do admit that i have heard great testimony about it. And its not that i have hyperactivity either... I try atleast to be diligent, and warm up. And for me, it depends on the day, some days my hips respond great to stretching, then i just work on that, other days its my hamstrings, other days its frontbending... so i more often do what seems to be responding to the stretches...

Do you use any pillows or softer surfaces to do splits on?

Hey Carmen,

So how is the stretching going? Do you have to set time out to get stretching done? I tend to stretch for an hour or so before i go to bed in the evening. when do you get your stretching done?

I ask because a lot of times people learn their splits through doing sport and ballet. I didn't do any sport that required flexibility either...
