After many years as a dancer and actress I joined an historical circus troupe where I began working as a contortionist and soon picked up slackrope. In 2006 I began performing as a solo act at Renaissance Faires.
Several years back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (initially thought to be rheumatoid arthritis, now thought to be systemic lupus). I was terrified at the time this would mean giving up contortion, but the doctor said as long as I could do it, it would actually help keep me healthy. Now staying bendy has extra incentive because it helps to slow the degradation of my joints.
