Sorry for the silence. My general opinion for stretching is that it is necessary in order for me to take in whatever my teacher is trying to teach. The more i stretch the higher the technique but also, I feel so much better with myself after I ahve stretched. A good split for a solid five minutesis satisfying as a good run.
NOt sure if I ever responded back, but since I was a theatre student, as well as a dance student, I think I kinda lucked out that ny studies encouraged stretching.
Thanks (-:
Yea. Its so upsetting because i will work so so so hard and i will get so close and then like my flexibility just kinda goes away...lol.
Other splits doing great. Although i have to say working so hard on my middle I have been neglecting my others and I am slowly losing them. Its sad.
Its getting better actually!
I recently auditiouned for a modern dance group we have where I live and I made it and one the teachers also invited me to do the intermediate adult ballet class...
So even though it wont be with people my age its still better then nothing!
I have also begun doing some yoga which is very realxing and a good way to stretch.
Recently i have been working really hard on my straddle splits but I seem to be going nowhere... It hurts my hips soooo bad!
i read. im not a tv kinda gal
yea it is. but never forget those seem so simple stretch! you know the ones they make you do if your on a swim team. also its better to be warm than cold when stretching
yea i can get it to my knee.
uhm no incantation sorry hate to burst your bubble
start with over splits(i know it sounds odd cause its not good for you but it pays off) start with over splits SLOWLY i mean not pulling muscles slowly lower yourself down hold it for 10 seconds and then sit down and put your legs together and strech to your toes and repeat it about 5 times. and then do it normally and you will find you are a lot lower
it took me about a month to be able to do middle splits flat comfortably. so it depends on the person i supose
No not fussy. never have been. Only fuss i have is if the back leg is at 90 degrees. They can be high as they want well..within reason you know. But the back leg is a pet peve
yea i have 1 foot over splits on middle
Time does fly!
i normally do some splits(of course stretching for splits to). Then over splits (my new goal is 2 feet on all of them) and then some walkovers a few back bends
then i normaly bend onto my elbows from a backbend and straighten my legs and strech that way
(when im done i do an equal amount of stretch forward to so i dont damage anything)
Ya it is kinda pathetic almost.
About 3-5 hours a day. so alot xD
ahhh i see ya it feels weird not to stretch i stiffen up if i don't stretch for one day i feel all stiff and unused
Fronts not as good as back. but still well above average.
Then again more than half the world is a couch potato..and thats sad.
And yea my mom always took me along with a friend to her dance class (i would do the stuff on the side for fun cause it gets boring)and her teacher said i could make it in cirque du soleil But i dont want to. and i didnt. so i knew before.
Its true.
Owch thats hard...uhmm...ill chose sumthing.
Anything with my back. When i stretch my back it feels good and i am very flexible naturally there no stretching before. First time i did a back bend i found i could get my head to my knees. so thats kind of how i learned that it surprised me
I never did gymnastics. I never did ballet. I never did anything. i just stretched with friends when they came over because one of them was a competitive dancer. and i became more and more flexible. and now i can do a ton of things. so i guess it just came around?
I'm not sure if I'd be able to do yoga. I've had a friend who did it, but didn't stay long because she didn't like stretching with others and I know I have that same problem.
How about you?
That is SO true. :| When I was little I had this huge talent, but I couldn't sign up. In my neighbourhood there's a gym where people do exercise... and just about everyday there are girls doing rhythmic gymnastics, but besides that it's rare to see flexible people. You just go to gym class and I'm the most flexible lol
I know! I mean, sometimes I see her after practice, and she has all these flexible friends, right? Well, you can see all these 6 year olds more flexible than me! I mean, they're little, not as smooth, but man, they're just too flexible!
No i havent... but I'll try. I got this friend at school who does ryhtmic gymnastics and can do and oversplit with.. not a book, but a regular chair! But I mean, she trains like, 4 hours a day and is a champion etc..
To Morgan: Thanks for the reply! It was short and to the point, so there can't be any confusion as to what you said. And there doesn't really seem to be room for any follow up questions or discussions. And so this doesn't seem like a chat post or a conversation, but has the appearance of an interview... But i guess thats really what you want... So thanks for your time, and you can thank me for mine...
